About the Role
The Traffic Engineer will support project managers on diverse traffic engineering initiatives, contributing to design, analysis, and documentation while working with multidisciplinary teams. • Assist project and task managers on multiple traffic engineering projects. • Design and analyze lighting, signal, and ITS systems for state and local agencies. • Conduct technical analyses using Synchro, HCS, Sidra, VISSIM, and related software. • Perform site investigations, inspections, and ensure compliance with standards and permits. • Produce data tables, charts, reports, and visualizations for analysis presentation. • Maintain QA/QC procedures for measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting. • Support project scoping, budgeting, tracking hours/expenses, and documentation. • Interface with multidisciplinary teams, regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients. • Stay current with traffic and electrical engineering practices and tools. • Uphold ethical decision‑making and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct.

What You Bring
WSP is searching for a full‑time Traffic Engineer to join its dedicated traffic experts in Cincinnati, Ohio, Lexington, Kentucky, or Louisville, Kentucky. The position is ideal for an engineer who wants a team‑focused environment backed by a global engineering firm, with support for career growth and leadership. Candidates should hold an engineering degree and have 0‑3 years of relevant experience, possess solid traffic engineering fundamentals, and be able to work independently while maintaining quality and safety standards. • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline. • 0‑3 years of relevant experience in traffic safety, lighting, or traffic design. • Proficiency with traffic engineering software (HCS, Synchro, Sidra, VISSIM). • Strong knowledge of traffic control equipment, lighting systems, capacity analysis, and project delivery. • Experience with CAD or OpenRoads Designer; willingness to learn AGi32 photometric analysis. • Ability to conduct field reviews and adhere to state government requirements. • Excellent technical writing, documentation, and communication skills. • Demonstrated self‑leadership, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in dynamic environments. • Ability to direct subcontractors and work flexible schedules, with occasional travel.
