About the Role

• Coordinate mechanical aspects of commercial or institutional projects • Perform routine mechanical engineering assignments using standard techniques and procedures • Write and edit mechanical specifications and select mechanical systems and devices • Utilize engineering software to develop HVAC loads, conduct energy analysis, and select equipment • Prepare construction documents for HVAC and plumbing design, including drawings, specifications, and reports • Work independently on small projects or assist senior engineers on larger projects • Supervise Mechanical CAD Technicians and coordinate design with architectural staff and other engineering disciplines • Manage construction contract administration, including field inspections and conflict resolution

What You Bring

• Master's degree in Architectural Engineering with Mechanical emphasis • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate (candidates without EIT will be titled "Coordinator" and expected to obtain EIT) • Experience with healthcare, science and technology, or civic facilities • Interest in sustainable design/LEED (desired but not required) • Previous experience at an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Trane TRACE or similar, equipment selection software) • Attitude and commitment to actively participate in HDR's employee‑owned culture
