About the Role

The Class C Lineman Underground is an entry-level position responsible for constructing, maintaining, and repairing electrical underground distribution systems. Work locations vary and may require travel to other states based on customer demand. • Perform new construction, maintenance, and repair of energized and de-energized underground distribution systems safely. • String underground wire and set poles and anchors. • Install transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear. • Replace transformer fuses and clear faulted circuits. • Work with energized high-voltage systems, applying proper safety measures. • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good condition. • Identify primary and secondary circuit voltage and recognize induced voltage. • Assist with single-phase transformer installation and hookup. • Properly install, remove, and inspect PPE, cover-ups, and rubber goods. • Check transformer voltage and install or remove service connections. • Climb wood, steel, and other structures using appropriate tools. • Tie lineman knots and operate hand lines. • Set up equipment, grounding procedures, and use Kellum grips. • Identify various line-work materials. • Travel long distances on short notice and work extended periods in varied locations. • Operate in inclement weather and follow all safety rules and company policies.

The role demands regular physical activity, including standing, walking, lifting over 50 lb, climbing structures, and working in inclement weather while adhering to safety protocols and company policies. Employees are exposed to fumes, airborne particles, mechanical vibration, and loud noise on construction sites, and must operate safely in outdoor and extreme weather conditions. • Safely set poles, work at heights and in confined spaces. • Possess 1–2 years of field experience. • Obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days; CDL preferred. • Lift over 50 lb and perform rigorous physical labor. • Glove and work live high-voltage distribution lines.
