About the Role
The rigging assembler constructs and installs rigging systems to lift and move equipment or material on construction projects. The role ensures that all rigging components are properly installed and secured before lifting operations commence. • Loads, transports, unloads and assists in selecting cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves according to weight and size of the load. • Attaches pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps. • Attaches load with grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropes and chains to crane hook. • Gives direction to crane operator or hoisting engineer using hand signals, loudspeaker, two‑way radio or telephone to ensure safety. • Sets up braces and rigs hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches. • Ties various knots. • Assembles and disassembles cranes. • Splices rope and wire cables to make or repair slings or tackle. • May direct workers engaged in hoisting machinery and equipment onto or off ships, railroads, cars or trucks. • Performs minor maintenance or cleaning of tools and equipment. • Observes all safety rules and performs other duties as required. • Coordinates movements of hands and feet according to visual signals and directions, maintaining accuracy standards. • Rates information using measurable standards. • Interprets flat drawings or diagrams and visualizes them as solid objects. • Plans work and selects proper tools. • Compares and identifies differences in size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects.

What You Bring
A high school diploma or equivalent, combined with relevant experience, is required. The role demands knowledge of standard industry concepts, practices, and procedures, and the incumbent works under immediate supervision following established guidelines. The position requires precise coordination of hand and foot movements using visual signals, adherence to measurable accuracy standards, and the ability to interpret flat drawings into three‑dimensional concepts. Candidates must apply shop mathematics, plan tasks, select appropriate tools, and evaluate differences in size, shape, and form. Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lb, carrying 40 lb, and applying force up to 70 ft‑lb. The job also involves frequent climbing, balancing, and occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching, with activity levels indicated by standardized symbols. • Applies shop mathematics to solve problems.
