Data Center Customer Operations Technician

About the Role

In this role you will install, test, and maintain customer equipment and cross‑connects across data‑centre sites, manage work priorities from the Siebel queue, and ensure compliance with service‑level agreements and industry standards. You will also keep detailed records, support project fulfilment under senior guidance, and respond to alarms according to Equinix procedures, contributing to high customer satisfaction. • Rack and stack customer equipment • Install customer equipment and cabinets • Test hardware for deployment to local and remote sites • Prioritize work from the Siebel queue and meet predefined SLAs • Install, test, modify, and troubleshoot fiber, copper, coax, and intra‑building cross‑connects per SOPs • Install and test advanced cross‑connect circuits (switched, multiplexed, etc.) • Test datacentre link cross‑connects using Fluke and JDSU equipment • Ensure test results align with industry standards • Maintain detailed written records of all work activity • Support project fulfilment under senior staff direction • Deliver timely, precise order execution to enhance customer satisfaction • Respond to alarms following Equinix procedures

What You Bring

• Experience in customer service, operation centres, or datacentres • Proficiency with Cat5e/Cat6a/fibre cabling installation, termination, and testing • Background in ISP or telecommunications • Willingness to work rotating day and night shifts • Familiarity with Windows NT, 2000, and XP (desirable) • Knowledge of TCP/IP network protocols (desirable)
