What You Bring

Kimley‑Horn’s Albuquerque office is hiring a Civil Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) with at least two years of experience to join its Surface Water team. The role is on‑site and not remote. The engineer will work in a dynamic team on projects such as surface‑water management studies, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and flood resiliency assessments. The position includes analysis, design, green‑infrastructure planning, and offers on‑the‑job and formal training, mentorship, and exposure to project financials and client interactions. Candidates must have two or more years of surface‑water modeling or design experience and hold a B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program. An Engineer‑In‑Training or Engineering Intern certification (or the ability to obtain one within 12 months) is required, along with experience using hydraulic/hydrology models such as HEC‑HMS, HEC‑RAS, and SWMM. Proficiency in ArcGIS, strong communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are also essential. • 2+ years of surface‑water modeling or design experience. • ABET‑accredited B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering. • Engineer‑In‑Training certification (or obtain within 12 months). • Proficient in ESRI ArcGIS (AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation a plus). • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication. • Demonstrated urgency and self‑initiative to meet deadlines. • Detail‑oriented and collaborative mindset. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Python programming knowledge (desired).
