About the Role
Join Downer’s Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP) and play a pivotal role in strengthening relationships with local communities, stakeholders, and project partners. As a Stakeholder Engagement Specialist, you will support the Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Director and Stakeholder Engagement Manager to implement the Communication and Stakeholder Engagement Plan, building awareness, appreciation, and support for QTMP across the region. In this role you will help deliver comprehensive engagement plans, lead community‑facing activities, and ensure that stakeholders remain informed, consulted, and connected throughout the program’s lifecycle. The position is ideal for an experienced engagement professional who thrives in dynamic project environments and is passionate about meaningful community relationships. • Plan and schedule stakeholder engagement activities and meetings. • Communicate and notify local communities about works. • Lead face‑to‑face engagements such as community meetings, pop‑ups, and Project Information Centre interactions. • Build respectful relationships with stakeholders to share project progress and address community issues. • Deliver the approved engagement program in line with government lead times and construction schedules. • Monitor stakeholder‑related risks, issues and opportunities and recommend mitigation strategies. • Contribute to public‑facing QTMP collateral as custodians of community relationships. • Ensure accurate data entry in the QTMP Consultation Manager and prepare performance reports.

What You Bring
• Hold a tertiary qualification in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism or a related field. • Approximately five years of experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, or related fields, preferably in government contracts, major infrastructure, civil works, engineering, public transport, or asset management projects. • IAP2 Certificate in Engagement (highly desirable) and experience with Consultation Manager (highly regarded). • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign). • Confident in engaging diverse community groups and managing multiple tasks in a fast‑paced, dynamic project environment.
