About the Role
Project Engineers work with experienced Project Management and Field Supervision staff and assist with the overall safety, direction, completion, and financial outcome of construction projects from initial budget through project closeout. Safety is the number one priority at Pepper Construction and Project Engineer I’s are expected to promote and exemplify safe work practices. Project Engineer I’s collaborate with team members at all levels to establish operational priorities, ensure quality, and maintain positive relationships with internal and external project team members and support departments. • Perform duties under Project Manager guidance. • Ensure customer satisfaction by identifying and exceeding client needs. • Estimate, value engineer, and develop project budgets. • Facilitate subcontractor bid process, including processing, distribution, and tracking of bid documents. • Utilize software and templates to manage project documentation. • Negotiate subcontractor and material buyouts; develop and negotiate subcontracts. • Plan and schedule project activities. • Coordinate subcontractors, resolve conflicts, document progress, and ensure quality and safety on‑site. • Monitor project costs, forecast and analyze labor, material, and equipment expenses to protect profit margins. • Conduct project closeout activities.

What You Bring
The position prefers a B.S. in Construction, Engineering, or a related field and prior co‑op or internship experience in construction. Candidates should be able to build and maintain strong working relationships, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, be self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
