About the Role
The Rail & Logistics Coordinator coordinates transportation operations to optimize processes, equipment, facilities, and human resources, while validating Rail Master Data requests and acting as a liaison to the centralized Master Data Governance team. The role is 100 % remote, based out of a home office in British Columbia. • Work with Class I and shortline railroads to improve overall service. • Support transportation availability for all logistical needs. • Assist in transportation emergency storm response. • Report on third‑party performance, carrier sourcing, and performance optimization. • Create accurate shipments and freight routes to customer destinations. • Contribute to business development strategies and special projects. • Identify cost‑saving opportunities and influence transportation decisions. • Negotiate and publish transportation rates for third‑party carriers. • Build strong relationships with transport carriers and understand their operations. • Leverage functional support groups to optimize efficiency and meet customer commitments. • Report on rail‑car pipeline, provide input on usage, track & trace, dispute demurrage charges, and manage shipment scheduling. • Provide vacation coverage for North America locations.

What You Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in logistics or equivalent education/experience. • Minimum five years of rail experience. • Strong negotiation skills with third‑party carriers. • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and communicate changes effectively. • Problem‑solving skills to address practical issues and anticipate challenges. • Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and the public. • Proficiency in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. • Competence in calculating discounts, commissions, percentages, and applying basic algebra and geometry. • Willingness to work overtime.
