About the Role

The Special Operations Strength and Conditioning Specialist at the AFSOC unit in Ft. Bragg will design and oversee strength and conditioning programs to maximize the physical performance of SOF operators and direct combat support personnel. In this role, the specialist will collaborate with Health Promotion staff to create, document, and evaluate training protocols, support injury recovery, provide instruction on movement techniques, and ensure safe use of equipment. • Design, administer, evaluate, and document strength and conditioning protocols under HP program manager supervision. • Coordinate safe return-to-training programs for SOF personnel recovering from injury. • Create physical training programs for TDY/TAD or deployed personnel. • Demonstrate exercises, provide instruction on movement techniques, and advise on injury avoidance. • Refer personnel with undiagnosed medical conditions to medical providers. • Assist in developing SOPs, guidelines, and equipment safety procedures for the HP program. • Participate in periodic meetings and in‑service training to review and improve training programs. • Maintain utilization records, workload logs, and contribute to quality‑assurance activities. • Develop and distribute training materials as required by the HP program manager. • Manage supply inventories and provide input on equipment needs. • Utilize computers and software for program documentation and reporting to USSOCOM HQ.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in exercise or health science, maintain a current NSCA CSCS or CSCCa SCCC certification, have at least five years of experience with elite athletes or SOF operators, and possess U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance. Required skills include fluent English communication, current CPR/AED certification, the ability to demonstrate exercises in austere environments, and physical capability to lift up to 25 kg; prior military/SOF experience and a master’s degree are desirable. • Hold current NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or CSCCa Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) credential. • Minimum five years of experience planning and executing sport/mission‑specific performance programs for elite athletes or SOF operators. • Possess U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status and obtain a DoD Secret clearance. • Maintain current CPR/AED certification. • Demonstrate physical proficiency to perform prescribed exercises, hike rough terrain, and function in austere environments; lift up to 25 kg. • Preferred: prior military or SOF experience and a master’s degree in exercise or health science.
