What You Bring
The Belfast office is hiring a Senior Geotechnical Engineer or Senior Engineering Geologist, available full‑time or part‑time, to lead a team of talented engineers within the UK & Ireland Ground Engineering Practice. The practice supports a wide range of sectors, including energy, water, defence, highways, and rail, offering services from feasibility studies through to construction supervision. The role requires a candidate with strong technical and commercial skills who can take day‑to‑day responsibility for delivering projects, ensuring technical quality, and meeting budget and programme targets. The successful applicant will lead geotechnical design from desk study and feasibility through investigation, interpretation, and final design, while supporting junior team members and managing project budgets. Candidates should hold a BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering, or an MSc/BSc in Geology, Engineering Geology, Earth Science, or Geotechnical Engineering. Chartered Engineer (IEng/CEng) or Chartered Geologist (CGeol) status is preferred or attainable within a year. Required expertise includes deep knowledge of UK and Irish ground conditions, geotechnical design experience, proficiency with software such as Slope/W and Wallap, familiarity with Eurocode and local standards, and strong communication skills. A clean driving licence and willingness to travel across Ireland and the UK are also necessary. • Hold a BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering or MSc in Geology/Geotechnical Engineering. • Chartered Engineer (IEng/CEng) or Chartered Geologist (CGeol) status, or on track. • Strong knowledge of UK and Irish ground conditions and investigation practices. • Experience in geotechnical design of earthworks, foundations, retaining structures, and slope stabilization. • Proficient with design software (e.g., Slope/W, Wallap) and data management tools (e.g., OpenGround). • Good understanding of Eurocode, British and Irish standards and CDM regulations. • Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong presentation skills. • Clean driving licence and willingness to travel throughout Ireland and the UK.
