About the Role

The PV Commissioning Technician works within a team to conduct system inspections on utility‑scale photovoltaic power plants. Duties include mechanical inspections, electrical testing, documenting findings, and communicating results with the Commissioning Lead. The role also supports troubleshooting and corrective actions for PV systems. Key responsibilities involve inspecting PV plants according to construction documents, completing all commissioning paperwork, recording outstanding issues, and entering field test data as needed. The technician performs final visual and mechanical inspections before energization, assists third‑party testing (e.g., transformers, MV audits, fiber optics), and ensures site documentation is ready for upcoming tests. Proper use of PPE, tool maintenance, and adherence to safety procedures are required. • Inspect PV plants to construction specifications. • Complete commissioning documentation and record outstanding issues. • Enter field test data and assist the Commissioning Lead as needed. • Perform final visual and mechanical inspections before energization. • Support third‑party testing (transformers, MV audits, cable and fiber optic tests). • Prepare site documentation for upcoming testing activities. • Ensure proper PPE use and compliance with safety procedures. • Maintain clean, organized tools and report any missing or damaged equipment. • Care for and maintain issued PPE according to manufacturer specifications. • Work independently while collaborating with team members to maintain quality. • Follow precise standards of accuracy and established procedures.

What You Bring

Candidates should have at least a high school diploma, photovoltaic installation experience, and one year of electrical work. Preferred qualifications include classroom training in PV systems, OSHA 10‑hour, First Aid/CPR, and NFPA 70E certifications. The employee must be able to read single‑line and three‑line electrical diagrams, use a multimeter, follow precise procedures, and work with minimal supervision while upholding MasTec’s Zero Injury safety principles. • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent; photovoltaic installation experience preferred. • Possess at least one year of electrical experience. • Preferably certified in OSHA 10‑hour, First Aid/CPR, and NFPA 70E. • Ability to read electrical single‑line and three‑line diagrams. • Proficient in using a multimeter.

Compensation ranges from $25.00 to $27.50 hourly, with performance‑based merit increases.
