About the Role

Bridge Tenders at Velociti Services operate and tend bridges, canal locks, and lighthouses to permit marine passage on inland waterways, near shores, and at danger points. They may also supervise these operations and include roles such as drawbridge operators, lock tenders, and slip bridge operators. • Operate and tend bridges, canal locks, and lighthouses; may supervise operations. • Provide safe, courteous openings for marine traffic and safe passage for vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians. • Follow all company procedures, safety protocols, and report incidents immediately. • Maintain accurate logs and records per FDOT guidelines in clear English. • Guard bridge stations, monitor waterways, and submit maintenance work requisitions. • Verify bridges are clear before opening; stop vehicle and pedestrian traffic; operate drawbridge gates. • Prioritize tasks, delegate when appropriate, and act with integrity and professionalism. • Maintain a clean, orderly workspace and accurate logs.

Ideal candidates can prioritize and delegate tasks, act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality, and possess a high school diploma/GED, be 18 years or older, and hold a valid driver’s license. Strong verbal comprehension, communication, problem‑solving, attention to detail, customer‑service passion, a positive attitude, accountability, and teamwork are essential, as is maintaining neat logs and a clean workspace. Physical requirements include meeting weight‑limitation safety ratings for equipment, lifting up to 50 lb, occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, balancing, and climbing, as well as demonstrating auditory and visual acuity for tracking and inspection. • Communicate effectively on VHF marine radio and interpret FDOT/U.S. Coast Guard manuals. • Meet education and licensing requirements: high school diploma/GED, 18+, valid driver’s license. • Demonstrate strong verbal comprehension, communication, problem‑solving, and attention‑to‑detail skills. • Meet physical demands: lift up to 50 lb, occasional climbing, stooping, and maintain auditory/visual acuity.
