About the Role

The engineer will share responsibility for producing high-quality deliverables that align with WSP’s mission, culture, and internal teamwork standards. This position supports the department’s goals while upholding the firm’s reputation for excellence in power delivery, generation, and project management following the recent acquisition of POWER Engineers, Inc. • Design low- to extra-high voltage substations, including diagrams, SCADA, layouts, grounding, foundations, structures, control enclosures, lightning protection, lighting plans, bills of material, and conduct site visits. • Provide QA/QC support for client deliverables. • Follow client standards and collaborate within a team on complex design tasks. • Apply ethical decision-making and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct. • Maintain a proven workplace-safety record and comply with WSP health, safety, and harassment policies. • Work flexible schedules that may exceed a typical workweek and travel occasionally as project needs dictate.

What You Bring

WSP is seeking an Early Career Substation Electrical Engineer for its Billings, MT office. The role will involve working with the Power Delivery Billings Substation Team to deliver projects that meet client objectives and address complex challenges. WSP is an equal-opportunity employer and all candidates must be authorized to work permanently in the United States. Relocation assistance is not offered for this role. • Hold a BSEE or BSEET degree from an accredited university, preferably with a power option. • Demonstrate strong electrical engineering knowledge and effective written/oral communication in English. • Be willing to live in or relocate to Billings, MT with minimal assistance. • Be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship. • Preferred: Hold Engineer in Training (EIT) certification. • Preferred: Have 3+ months of relevant electrical engineering experience (internship or co-op). • Preferred: Minimum 2.5 GPA and knowledge of utility substation design.
