About the Role
Key duties involve delivering cost‑out initiatives—reducing cycle time, tooling expenses, and setup duration while enhancing first‑pass yield. The engineer will develop machining processes from blueprints, select appropriate cutting tools and fixtures, and support new‑product launches following established NPI standards. Participation in Rapid Improvement Events, research and implementation of new technologies, mistake‑proofing, and safety oversight are also required. • Lead cost‑out initiatives to cut cycle time, tooling expenses, setup time, and boost first‑pass yield. • Design and optimize machining processes from blueprints, selecting cutting tools and fixtures. • Drive new‑product introductions using the NPI process with a right‑first‑time approach. • Participate in Rapid Improvement Events to eliminate waste and standardize work. • Research, justify, and implement new machining technologies as part of capital strategy. • Develop and apply mistake‑proofing and root‑cause corrective actions. • Support overall manufacturing strategy to meet cost, quality, and delivery goals. • Address safety issues, including lock‑out/tag‑out, machine guarding, and ergonomics. • Ensure compliance with the Quality Policy and QMS standards.

What You Bring
The role is located in the Charleston, SC Machining Center of Excellence and concentrates on executing and implementing best machining practices. It includes process troubleshooting, continuous improvement, new product introduction, and adoption of advanced machining technologies. Candidates must have hands‑on experience with diverse material‑removal processes such as CNC turning, milling, grinding, broaching, hobbing, and honing. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering (manufacturing or mechanical preferred) and possess at least ten years of machining‑engineering experience, with expertise in a minimum of two material‑removal processes. Strong written and verbal communication, leadership, analytical, and teamwork abilities are essential, along with knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, and quality systems such as ISO, AS9100, and QS‑9000. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAM tools like GibbsCAM or MasterCAM is also expected. • Possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering (manufacturing/mechanical preferred) and 10+ years machining‑engineering experience. • Demonstrate expertise in at least two material‑removal processes (e.g., turning, 3‑5 axis milling, grinding, broaching, hobbing, honing). • Exhibit strong communication, leadership, analytical, and teamwork skills. • Apply lean manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, and quality system knowledge (ISO, AS9100, QS‑9000). • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CAM software such as GibbsCAM or MasterCAM. • Eligible U.S. person per ITAR requirements.
