About the Role
We are searching for an Area Electrical Business Class Lead for our downtown Chicago office. This role will lead the Illinois/Indiana electrical engineering team, drive technical excellence, and support staff development while engaging with clients, market sectors, and community stakeholders. • Provide leadership for the Illinois/Indiana electrical engineering team, focusing on technical excellence, quality, recruitment, and staff development. • Collaborate with market sector leaders to ensure technical excellence across commercial, civic, industrial, federal, water, transportation, healthcare, education, laboratory, and mission‑critical facilities. • Engage with clients and community stakeholders. • Participate in marketing, planning, proposals, and interviews for key markets. • Promote HDR’s Electrical Engineering practice within the engineering and architecture community, including conference participation. • Serve as design lead or engineering project manager on key projects. • Oversee operations of the electrical work group, including staff development, profitability, morale, and quality control. • Ensure all work is planned, organized, controlled, checked, and evaluated through proactive project management. • Implement, monitor, and support company policy. • Work cooperatively with other business class directors, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers on business class initiatives. • Actively participate in work‑sharing and electrical practice development with a national network of HDR electrical engineers. • Actively engage in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR’s technical expertise and brand. • Collaborate cooperatively with other area business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers.

What You Bring
• Possess a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an electrical emphasis. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a professional, architecture, engineering, or closely related field. • Bring at least 10 years of relevant experience. • Maintain a professional or engineering registration and related technical experience. • Experience developing and managing diverse teams.
