About the Role

The Construction Laborer prepares the work site each day, performing housekeeping and other duties required for daily operations. The role ensures the area is safe, clean, and ready for the crew, and adheres to all waste‑handling and safety guidelines. Key duties include operating jackhammers and drills, positioning and sealing structural components, mixing and placing concrete, and tending pumps, compressors, and generators. The worker also reads and interprets plans, signals equipment operators, and controls traffic around the work zone while erecting and dismantling temporary structures such as scaffolding and barricades. The position demands the ability to load, unload, identify, and distribute materials and tools according to project specifications, as well as to act as a safety watch during welding or metal‑cutting activities. Additional responsibilities involve completing records, maintaining tools, and performing various janitorial tasks. • Operate jackhammers and drills to break concrete or pavement. • Position, join, align, and seal structural components such as walls and pipes. • Mix, pour, and finish concrete using mixers, floats, trowels, and powered tools. • Signal equipment operators to align and adjust machinery and materials. • Tend and maintain concrete, grout, and sand pumps, as well as compressors and generators. • Lubricate, clean, and repair machinery, equipment, and tools. • Operate and monitor air sampling devices in confined or hazardous environments. • Build, position, and dismantle concrete forms using saws, hammers, nails, or bolts. • Clean and prepare construction sites, following waste‑handling guidelines. • Control traffic around work zones. • Dig ditches or trenches, backfill, compact, and level earth to grade specifications. • Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, barricades, and ramps. • Load, unload, identify, and distribute building materials, machinery, and tools per project plans. • Act as a safety watch during welding or metal‑cutting activities. • Read and interpret plans, instructions, and specifications to determine work activities. • Expedite materials and equipment to work locations and set up work sites. • Complete records, maintain tools and equipment, and perform janitorial duties. • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, wearing required PPE. • Plan work and select appropriate tools. • Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings. • Make decisions based on measurable criteria. • Meet physical demands such as standing, walking, lifting 50 lb, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
