About the Role
The Project Engineer (Transportation) will lead and mentor junior engineers, oversee the production of design deliverables—including geometric design, sidewalks, ADA‑compliant elements, grading, drainage, signals, street lighting, MPT/staging, flood protection, and utility coordination—and manage multiple projects by tracking progress, preparing reports, and coordinating schedules, budgets, and internal financials. In addition, the role serves as the primary point of contact for client and agency communications, facilitates interdisciplinary coordination with in‑house teams, subconsultants, and contractors, leads public outreach and presentations, conducts field work oversight, contributes to project planning and cost estimating, performs technical reviews for compliance, and monitors project risks, schedules, and budgets. • Lead and mentor junior engineers (1+ staff) on technical design and project tasks. • Oversee production of design deliverables: geometric design, sidewalks, ADA elements, grading/drainage, signals, street lighting, MPT/staging, flood protection, utility coordination. • Manage multiple projects: track progress, prepare reports, coordinate schedules, budgets, and internal financials. • Serve as primary contact for client/agency communications and stakeholder coordination (NYCDOT, NYCDDC, NYCDEP, MTA, NYC Parks, private utilities). • Facilitate interdisciplinary coordination with in‑house teams, subconsultants, and contractors for constructability and contract integration. • Lead public outreach, community board meetings, and client/agency presentations. • Conduct field work oversight: surveys, data collection, construction observation, RFIs, submittals, change orders. • Contribute to project planning, scope development, cost estimating, specifications, and quality control reviews. • Perform technical reviews to ensure compliance with agency standards, MUTCD, ADA, and best practices. • Monitor project risks, schedules, and budgets; recommend adjustments.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, possess EIT certification, and have 4–8 years of transportation or civil engineering experience, preferably on NYC public‑sector projects. Preferred qualifications include experience with NYCDDC and NYCDOT, proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Excel, Primavera P6, and a PE certification. • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college. • EIT certification required; PE certification preferred. • 4–8 years transportation/civil engineering experience, preferably on NYC public‑sector projects. • Experience with NYCDDC and NYCDOT preferred. • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Excel, Primavera P6 preferred.
