What You Bring
Join our Downer Professional Services team and express your interest in future opportunities within our System Engineering stream. We are seeking skilled professionals with Defence or Defence‑industry experience to join our permanent workforce and support complex defence and national‑security projects that safeguard Australia’s future. We are looking for engineers with experience aligned to roles such as Defence Systems Engineering (V&V, T&E), Communications or Electronics Systems Engineering, Naval/Land/Aerospace Systems Engineering, Cyber Systems Engineering, Combat Systems Engineering, and Integration and Test Engineering. Candidates must hold a qualified engineering credential, have hands‑on engineering experience, and be able to consult and lead projects in collaborative team environments. Proven experience in Land, Communications, Navy, Space or other defence sectors and knowledge of validation and verification, test and evaluation, system design, safety engineering or system specifications is essential. A current Negative Vetting 1 or higher security clearance is required, and in some cases compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) may be necessary. • Qualified/certified engineer or equivalent engineering degree • Hands‑on engineering experience with ability to consult and lead projects • Proven work in Land, Communications, Navy, Space or other defence sectors • Experience with validation & verification, test & evaluation, system design, safety engineering or system specifications • Strong stakeholder management and collaborative teamwork skills • Current Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) or higher security clearance; ITAR compliance may be required
