About the Role
The engineer will troubleshoot, service and commission industrial water chillers, working both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities include responding to service calls, conducting risk assessments, performing maintenance and fault diagnosis on a range of Carrier and third‑party chillers, and interpreting wiring diagrams, P&ID and pressure‑enthalpy drawings. Additional duties involve commissioning standard and large‑capacity chillers, providing technical advice, supervising technicians on large sites, supporting junior engineers and apprentices, and assisting the Training Manager with technical courses. The role also requires adherence to F‑Gas regulations, health & safety standards, and the production of clear service reports via a digital platform, while acting as a subject‑matter expert in areas such as centrifugal compressor rebuilds and chiller sequencing controls. • Troubleshoot, service, and commission industrial water chillers • Respond to service calls promptly and conduct risk assessments • Perform maintenance, repair, and fault diagnosis on various chiller types • Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults using diagrams • Commission standard and large‑capacity chillers ensuring compliance • Provide technical guidance to customers and attend project meetings • Supervise technicians on large sites and mentor junior engineers • Assist the Training Manager in delivering technical training courses • Ensure compliance with F‑Gas regulations and health & safety standards • Produce clear service reports via Carrier’s digital platform • Act as subject‑matter expert for centrifugal compressor rebuilds and chiller sequencing controls • Maintain F‑Gas Category 1 qualification

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a City & Guilds qualification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, be F‑Gas qualified (Category 1), and preferably have an HNC/ONC in the same field. Experience with Carrier and other chiller manufacturers, strong knowledge of refrigeration circuits, thermodynamics and control systems, and a full UK driving licence are essential. Prior work as a technician or engineer in the HVAC industry is expected. • Hold City & Guilds qualification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning • Possess HNC/ONC in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (preferred) • Demonstrate experience with Carrier and other chiller manufacturers • Hold a full UK driving licence • Understand refrigeration circuits, thermodynamics and control systems • Have prior experience as a technician or engineer in the HVAC industry
