About the Role

The Environmental Technician ES I supports Republic Services' Onsite Support and Lab Pack service groups by handling chemical waste collection, stock chemical distribution, EPA compliance inspections, data organization, waste packaging, coordinating shipments, and assisting with spill response. The role also includes miscellaneous administrative duties and program development tasks. Core duties include collecting, identifying, labeling, storing, and packaging hazardous and non‑hazardous waste in line with regulations; facilitating Lab Pack programs, performing chemical bulking and consolidation; generating waste profiles, manifests, and land‑ban forms; transporting waste safely between customer sites and disposal facilities; and participating in spill response as needed. The technician also inspects chemical storage locations for EPA, OSHA, and DOT compliance and enters customer‑specific environmental, health, and safety data. Additional responsibilities involve receiving chemical deliveries, unpackaging shipments, barcoding containers, using inventory software, and distributing chemicals to lab staff. The incumbent must also perform non‑essential duties as assigned.

What You Bring

Candidates should be skilled with hand and shop tools, detail‑oriented, and capable of problem solving, prioritizing, and handling multiple responsibilities. Required knowledge includes chemistry principles, waste processing protocols, and the ability to wear a full‑face respirator, lift up to 50 lb, and be clean‑shaven. Strong written and verbal communication, Microsoft Office proficiency, and customer‑service experience are preferred; a CDL with Hazmat endorsement is a plus. Minimum qualifications are 0‑2 years of relevant experience, ability to complete a 40‑hour HAZWOPER training upon hire, and a valid state driver’s license. Pay ranges from $23.40 to $32.17 hourly, varying by locality.
