About the Role

The role includes operating equipment such as scrapers, forklift/telehandlers, and bobcats; following safety regulations and maintaining orderly housekeeping; performing routine maintenance, monitoring equipment, and detecting malfunctions; adhering to work plans and pre‑task cards; building relationships across diverse backgrounds; and completing other assigned duties. • Operate scrapers, forklift/telehandlers, and bobcats/skid steer loaders. • Follow prescribed safety regulations and maintain orderly housekeeping. • Perform routine maintenance, monitor equipment operation, and detect malfunctions. • Adhere to work plans and complete pre‑task safety cards. • Build effective relationships with team members from diverse backgrounds. • Read and interpret safety rules, operating manuals, procedure documents, and load charts. • Perform repetitive hand, arm, and leg movements; lift or carry up to 50 lb (over 50 lb with assistance).

What You Bring

Mortenson is seeking an Operator Apprentice who will operate equipment as directed while complying with Mortenson safety policies and procedures. Candidates must hold the required equipment certifications, have at least one year of related experience, and possess a current driver’s license with appropriate classification and endorsements. They should demonstrate strong teamwork, a positive attitude, professional customer‑service skills, and the ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating manuals, and load charts. Additional requirements include the ability to operate equipment controls, basic math skills, independent work capability with effective communication, and the physical ability to perform repetitive movements and lift or carry up to 50 lb (heavier loads with assistance). • Hold required equipment certifications and at least one year of related experience. • Possess a valid driver’s license with appropriate classification and endorsements. • Demonstrate strong teamwork, a positive attitude, and professional customer‑service skills. • Operate equipment controls and apply basic mathematical skills. • Work independently with active listening and effective communication.
