About the Role
The Operations Manager – Landfill leads landfill activities within a business unit, ensuring all operations comply with safety, environmental, and equipment maintenance policies. This role collaborates closely with the General Manager, Area Manager, Post Collections, and Environmental Manager to develop fill sequencing plans that meet density goals and adhere to permit requirements. Key duties include supervising the Operations Supervisor, Lead Operators, and labor staff, overseeing hiring, training, and performance management, and resolving safety issues. The manager evaluates site and service needs to create efficient operational plans, monitors compliance with safety and environmental standards, and coordinates equipment maintenance and acquisition. Responsibilities also cover waste receipt procedures, monitoring of liquid and gas extraction systems, contractor management, productivity goal setting, and labor cost control. • Oversee daily landfill operations and staff supervision • Develop and implement operational plans to meet density and permit goals • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and equipment policies • Coordinate equipment maintenance and acquisition • Manage waste receipt, testing, and monitoring processes • Control liquid and gas extraction systems • Maintain contractor relationships and productivity targets • Lead safety and accident prevention programs

What You Bring

They must be collaborative, ethical, and capable of building high‑performance teams, hold a Landfill Operator certification, and possess at least a high school diploma or GED plus two years of supervisory or management experience, preferably with experience managing multiple sites.
