About the Role

The Engineering Specifications Consultant role is based in Columbus, OH, providing technical expertise to MEP firms, design/build contractors and other specifiers. The consultant collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure Viega products are included in project and master specifications. In this position you will build long‑term relationships with engineers, architects, general contractors, EPCs and manufacturers, execute account strategies, deliver presentations, and work with cross‑functional teams to develop and revise specifications while providing technical support to sales and product engineering. • Build and maintain relationships with MEP engineers, architects, contractors, EPCs and manufacturers to secure inclusion of Viega products in specifications. • Execute account strategies and develop strategic plans for key accounts to drive revenue growth and profitability. • Deliver professional presentations to engineers, architects, developers, facility engineers, plant managers, code officials and design/build contractors. • Collaborate with customers, partners, sales and product engineering teams to align solutions with customer requirements. • Partner with cross‑functional teams to revise existing specifications and create new ones, recommending changes to integrate Viega products. • Provide technical support for internal stakeholders on engineering and product guide specifications. • Initiate new customer engagements, conduct regular visits, and identify new business opportunities. • Travel up to 70% of the time, providing in‑person support and responding to leads and inquiries. • Liaise with local code officials and inspectors to obtain approvals and resolve installation questions. • Maintain and update Salesforce and specification databases, and report field activity, inclusion metrics and market trends to management. • Accurate calculation of unit conversions, percentages, area and volume.

What You Bring

Successful candidates must demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, deep knowledge of codes, standards and specification development, proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM tools, and the ability to analyze product requirements and market dynamics. Required education includes a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial or civil engineering (or equivalent experience), 3‑5 years of industry experience, a valid driver’s license, and a preference for a mechanical engineering degree; extensive experience can substitute for formal education. • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and CRM tools. • Detailed knowledge of codes, standards and specification development. • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. • Strong organizational ability and strategic‑selling expertise. • Ability to interpret customer product requirements, forecast changes and devise competitive practices. • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience); 3‑5 years industry experience. • Valid driver’s license; preference for Mechanical Engineering degree; 10+ years piping design/installation may substitute education.
