About the Role

As the Area Controller, you will be the financial leader for your assigned Area and act as a strategic partner to the Area Finance Director. This role goes beyond number‑crunching to shape insights that drive business decisions, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and lead a high‑performing accounting team. You will oversee accounting operations, ensure compliance, and champion process innovation to deliver real business impact. • Own month‑end close, completing the close in 5 days and delivering accurate reports. • Ensure GAAP compliance and strengthen internal financial controls, including SOX. • Identify and implement automation and process‑improvement opportunities. • Lead system implementations for new sites and manage change initiatives. • Oversee financial integration of acquisitions. • Supervise preparation of financial statements and reports, ensuring quality and timeliness. • Review monthly balance‑sheet reconciliations and perform area balance‑sheet analysis. • Build, develop, and mentor a high‑performing accounting team of 7‑10 staff. • Serve as the go‑to expert for audits, SOX, GAAP, and municipal contract accounting. • Partner with operations to deliver actionable financial insights.

Benefits

The position offers a hybrid work arrangement with a base salary range of $119,500 to $169,510, complemented by a bonus plan and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, and RRSP matching.
