About the Role
As a Telecommunications Service Technician based in Southland, you will join a skilled team delivering essential communications services. Working under a Team Leader, you will handle a mix of service and project work, installing, commissioning and repairing assets in the field. The role focuses on keeping customers connected by responding to faults, supporting project handovers, and ensuring each site is safe, compliant and operational. • Install, commission and repair copper/fibre network assets in the field. • Respond promptly to faults and callouts, supporting project handovers. • Ensure each site is safe, compliant and fully operational before leaving. • Use jointing and fault‑finding equipment and interpret network plans accurately. • Maintain strong customer focus with clear, professional communication. • Manage own workload independently and seek continuous improvement.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate has at least three years of telecommunications experience, preferably with copper and/or fibre networks, and holds a NZQA Level 3 qualification or equivalent. A full New Zealand driver’s licence is required, together with confidence using jointing and fault‑finding equipment and reading network plans. Strong customer focus, clear communication, self‑motivation, organisational ability and a problem‑solving mindset are essential. • Hold at least 3 years of telecommunications experience and NZQA Level 3 (or equivalent). • Possess a full New Zealand driver’s licence.
