About the Role
The manager will lead a team to complete transportation projects, establishing and monitoring scope and fees, and using project management tools to track tasks and schedules. Responsibilities include coordinating design efforts, communicating with internal and external stakeholders, handling client needs, conducting constructability and peer reviews, and potentially serving as Engineer of Record. Additionally, the role involves building client relationships, negotiating contracts, managing financial reporting, and contributing to marketing and business development initiatives. • Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver transportation projects on time and within contract scope. • Establish and monitor project scope, fees, and financial performance, securing modifications as needed. • Utilize project management tools to track tasks, timelines, and stage completions. • Assign and review design tasks, including calculations, plans, and submittals. • Communicate high‑level concepts with team members, clients, subconsultants, and government agencies. • Coordinate across disciplines to streamline design and minimize revisions. • Address client needs promptly, resolve conflicts, and escalate issues when necessary. • Conduct constructability reviews and independent peer reviews of project submittals. • Serve as Engineer of Record for assigned projects when required. • Build and maintain client relationships to identify business opportunities. • Negotiate and execute contracts with clients and subconsultants alongside finance and legal teams. • Collaborate with project accountants to set up projects, review expenses, generate invoices, and support collections. • Prepare and submit regular financial reports covering percent complete, billing, receivables, and profitability. • Use the Client Relationship Manager (CRM) to track business opportunities and pursuits. • Manage proposal development for lead pursuits, including preliminary and final reviews. • Support marketing activities such as resume updates, project write‑ups, and proposal assistance. • Mentor, coach, and develop team members, identifying training gaps and providing internal or external training resources. • Participate in personnel forecasting, recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and ensure timely timesheet and expense submissions.
