About the Role

The estimator will be responsible for developing detailed cost estimates for civil, structural, and mechanical components, preparing indirect cost calculations, analyzing design documents, and supporting value‑engineering and alternative construction options. Additional duties include preparing quantity takeoffs, crew build‑ups, soliciting vendor quotes, creating work breakdown structures, managing estimate reviews, and collaborating with project management, engineering, and procurement teams to ensure accuracy. The role is supervisory in nature, overseeing junior staff and ensuring technical excellence while aligning estimates with execution plans. Relocation and sponsorship are not available for this position. Compensation ranges from $125,000 to $145,000 annually, and the primary location is Denver, Colorado, with a remote work model. • Develop detailed cost estimates for civil, structural, and mechanical components, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work. • Calculate project indirect costs such as general conditions, management staff, temporary facilities, equipment, markups, and contingencies. • Analyze drawings, specifications, and site data to assess constructability and cost impacts. • Identify estimating processes or actions that may affect project outcomes. • Support budget development, value‑engineering options, and alternative construction approaches. • Prepare quantity takeoffs using industry‑standard tools and software. • Create crew build‑ups and determine production rates. • Solicit, evaluate, and level vendor and subcontractor quotes. • Apply planning and scheduling knowledge to estimate preparation. • Develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) for projects. • Manage the preparation of estimates and lead estimate review meetings. • Collaborate with project management, engineering, and procurement teams to ensure estimate accuracy and alignment with execution plans. • Initiate and document the Estimate Plan, Basis of Estimate, and qualifications, including approach, techniques, effort, cost, and schedule. • Prepare bid tabulations responding to customer RFP requirements. • Collect, analyze, and archive project data to develop historical documentation. • Compare current project estimates with past performance and market benchmark data. • Supervise junior staff, set goals, and document performance and achievements.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a BA or BS in engineering or construction from an ABET‑accredited institution and have at least eight years of relevant estimating experience, with US citizenship required. Preferred qualifications include extensive experience estimating civil, structural, and mechanical scopes, proficiency with industry‑standard estimating software, knowledge of construction methods and project controls, and strong analytical and communication skills. • Hold a BA/BS in engineering or construction (ABET accredited) with 8+ years of experience or equivalent. • Demonstrated estimating experience; US citizenship required. • 7–10 years estimating experience in industrial, heavy civil, or large‑scale commercial construction. • Experience estimating civil (earthwork, foundations, utilities), structural (steel, concrete), and mechanical (process piping, equipment) scopes. • Proficiency with estimating software such as Trimble WinEstimator, ACCE, Bluebeam, HeavyBid, Sage Estimating, or On‑Screen Takeoff. • Background in manufacturing, energy, mining, oil & gas, or infrastructure sectors. • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, cost drivers, and labor productivity. • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, structural plans, and specifications. • Familiarity with project controls, scheduling, and work breakdown structures. • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
