About the Role
• Ensure site organization and order. • Assist and lead across construction disciplines. • Communicate with the team and direct junior members. • Take direction from line managers and challenge when necessary. • Ensure compliance with Group Safety Policy and health & safety regulations. • Direct labour, plant, staff, and equipment to meet schedule, specifications, and budget. • Lead staff and operatives, developing managers' skills and fostering high morale. • Train and develop junior team members for current and future needs. • Monitor site team performance against contract targets and implement corrective actions. • Coordinate with Buying and Surveying to order materials and subcontractors timely. • Ensure staff training and development as per appraisal plans.

What You Bring
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Site Manager to join Galliford Try in the East Midlands. The successful candidate will be based in or around the East of England and will travel across multiple sites and projects in the region. Applicants must have significant experience working on design‑and‑build projects for a main contractor, with strong expertise in health & safety, design, and procurement. Experience managing the full build process, from design and procurement through to on‑site installation and handover, is essential, and experience on Education or Ministry of Justice projects is welcomed. Trade and site experience are preferable, and candidates must hold a CSCS Site Manager card and a valid SMSTS certificate. • Understand position within the construction team and expectations. • Achieve maximum marks on twice‑monthly health and safety audits. • Significant experience on design‑and‑build projects for a main contractor. • Proven management of health & safety, design, and procurement processes. • Ability to coordinate packages from design through installation and handover. • Experience on Education or Ministry of Justice projects (preferred). • Trade and site experience (desirable). • Up‑to‑date knowledge of health & safety obligations and building legislation. • CSCS card at Site Manager level. • Valid SMSTS certificate.
