About the Role

The Safety Manager will be responsible for hazard identification, preventive and corrective actions, and the supervision of employee safety compliance. They will work closely with Upchurch leadership and the GC safety team, conduct incident investigations, support company‑wide safety initiatives, and align project activities with corporate safety objectives. Regular site inspections, audits, documentation, reporting, and safety training are also core duties. • Identify hazards and implement preventive and corrective measures • Collaborate with Upchurch project leadership and the General Contractor’s safety team • Lead incident investigations using root cause analysis for injuries, near misses, property damage, and theft • Supervise and support employee safety compliance across the project • Support company‑wide safety initiatives and enforce safety policies and procedures • Align project safety efforts with corporate safety objectives alongside the Director of Corporate Safety • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety observations • Maintain accurate documentation and prepare reports using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) • Deliver safety training and promote a proactive, team‑based safety culture • Ensure compliance with OSHA and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations • Manage workers’ compensation cases with Third‑Party Administrators from reporting to claim resolution • Develop Pre‑Task Plans, Methods of Procedure, and lift plans for project activities • Provide prior supervisory experience with direct employee oversight • Maintain a clean driving record

What You Bring

Upchurch seeks an experienced Project Safety Manager for an active construction project in Clinton, Mississippi. The on‑site role will promote a strong safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and partner with project leadership to proactively manage risk. The ideal candidate brings a solid background in construction safety, incident investigation, and workers’ compensation management, and can collaborate with both field and corporate safety teams, the General Contractor, and the Owner Representative. Candidates must have 7‑10 years of construction safety management experience, OSHA 500 certification, and prior supervisory experience. Experience creating pre‑task plans, method of procedures, lift plans, and managing safety across multiple locations is required. Strong communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to work in varying weather conditions, lift up to 50 lb, climb ladders or scaffolding, and maintain a clean driving record are essential. • Possess 7‑10 years of construction safety management experience • Hold OSHA 500 certification (required) • Demonstrate ability to manage safety functions across multiple locations or projects • Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills • Physically capable of working on active sites, lifting up to 50 lb, and climbing ladders or scaffolding
