About the Role

In this position you will support planning, design, and construction administration for wastewater treatment facilities, pumping systems, and large‑diameter conveyance systems. Responsibilities also include advancing business development strategies, pursuing new clients and projects in Wisconsin and Minnesota, maintaining and strengthening existing client relationships, providing project management and technical expertise, and supporting staff development. • Lead multidisciplinary teams through all project phases, from initiation to close‑out. • Manage multiple small‑to‑medium wastewater projects concurrently, ensuring schedule and budget compliance. • Oversee planning, design, and construction administration of treatment plants, pumping stations, and large‑diameter conveyance systems. • Develop and maintain client relationships, identify new business opportunities, and contribute to proposal preparation. • Coordinate staffing, workload, and deliverable development with stakeholders. • Track project financials and adjust efforts to meet agreed‑upon budgets and timelines. • Implement QA/QC procedures and conduct periodic project reviews with accounting and operations leadership.

What You Bring

HDR is seeking an experienced Wastewater Engineer/Project Manager to join the Minnesota/Wisconsin Water Business Group, focusing on the Wisconsin wastewater utility market. The role will be part of a multidisciplinary, 30‑plus member water team based in Minneapolis, working out of HDR’s Madison or a future Milwaukee office, and will support the growth and delivery of HDR’s Wastewater Market Sector in Wisconsin as well as regional and national programs. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering, ten or more years of related experience, five or more years of project‑management experience, a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Wisconsin, and demonstrated business‑development and client‑management experience. Required qualifications are a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, at least seven years of related experience, a minimum of two years in project management, a professional engineering license recognized in the work location, proficiency with MS Office and MS Project (Access a plus), strong leadership skills, and a commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned culture. • Hold a Master’s (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 7‑10+ years of experience, including 2‑5 years of project management. • Possess a Professional Engineer (PE) license for the applicable state (WI preferred) and demonstrate business development experience. • Proficient in MS Office, MS Project (Access a plus), and exhibit strong leadership and collaborative skills.
