About the Role
The Senior Database Engineer (SQL) will design and build highly performant, highly available data solutions that process terabytes of data and support over a billion dollars of annual revenue. Based in Arlington, VA, the role operates on‑site Monday through Thursday with a remote workday on Friday. Responsibilities include database architecture, performance tuning, Power BI dashboard creation, documentation, and collaboration with QA, DevOps, and product launch teams. • Architect and build high‑performance, highly available data solutions handling terabytes of data. • Design and tune databases for high‑transaction workloads using SQL Profiler and execution plans. • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and documentation of database structures and best practices. • Collaborate with QA, DevOps, and product launch teams to ensure quality and resolve operational issues. • Evaluate emerging technologies to enhance CoStar’s platform and development practices.

What You Bring
• Hold a bachelor’s degree and ≥4 years of SQL database development experience. • Demonstrate expertise in T‑SQL programming, performance tuning, index analysis, and database architecture. • Use version control systems such as TFS; experience with unit testing and performance testing preferred. • Familiarity with NoSQL (e.g., Elasticsearch), BI tools (Power BI), scripting (PowerShell/Python), and cloud platforms (Azure SQL, AWS RDS). • Strong communication skills and ability to facilitate technical discussions.
