About the Role

The Site Functional Area Manager (SFAM) is responsible for day‑to‑day plant‑level environmental compliance, ensuring the highest standards are met for all applicable rules and regulations. The role oversees regulatory inspections, reporting, permit compliance, and testing across air and water pollution control, waste handling, spill planning, storage tank management, and emergency response. Core duties include managing environmental programs, maintaining accurate records and analytics, alerting personnel to issues, conducting self‑assessments and audits, supervising contractors and budgets, and supporting ISO 14001 EMS certification activities. The position also reports metrics, implements corrective actions, and contributes to the Environmental Peer Group to share best practices. • Ensure daily plant‑level environmental compliance with all applicable regulations. • Manage waste, water pollution control, spill response, emergency planning, and storage tank operations. • Conduct regulatory inspections, reporting, and permit compliance activities. • Maintain environmental records, analyze data, and file required reports. • Alert staff and management to environmental issues and promote awareness. • Perform self‑assessments, support corporate audits, and lead site inspections. • Oversee environmental contractors and control budgets. • Participate in ISO 14001 EMS certification and continuous improvement initiatives. • Report environmental metrics and drive corrective‑action implementation.

What You Bring

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in engineering, natural or physical sciences, or environmental science with five years of related experience; alternatively, an associate’s degree with seven years, or a high school diploma/GED with nine years of experience. Candidates must possess strong knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and be proficient with Microsoft Office applications. Preferred qualifications feature air‑quality expertise with Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS), power‑plant regulatory experience, water‑quality sampling and DMR preparation, project‑management skills, and familiarity with ISO 14001 EMS standards. • Required: Bachelor’s (or Associate’s/High school) in engineering or environmental science with 5–9 years relevant experience. • Must have strong knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental rules and Microsoft Office proficiency. • Preferred: CEMS and air‑quality experience, power‑plant regulatory expertise, water‑quality sampling/DMR preparation, project‑management ability, ISO 14001 knowledge.
