About the Role

The role involves operating and maintaining water‑treatment, well, pump‑storage facilities, and reservoirs, performing inspections, recording data, preparing regulatory reports, collecting and analyzing water samples, and conducting preventive maintenance and emergency repairs. The employee must hold a valid driver’s license and obtain a Class C Commercial Driver’s License with a Hazardous Materials endorsement within the required timeframe. Physical capability to lift up to 75 lb and availability for overtime and emergency call‑outs are required to maintain continuous water service. • Operate and maintain water‑treatment, well, pump‑storage facilities, and reservoirs. • Perform inspections, tests, and record system data and measurements. • Prepare regulatory reports for PA DEP, PUC, and other agencies. • Collect, analyze, and log water samples for compliance and process control. • Conduct preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and troubleshoot equipment. • Be available for overtime and emergency call‑outs to ensure continuous service.

What You Bring

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with technical school study in mechanical or instrumentation control preferred. They need the technical, academic and physical ability to read and follow operating instructions, perform calculations, prepare written technical reports, and operate computer‑controlled plant equipment. Required certifications include a Class A Water certification (subclasses 1, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12) and a Class C CDL with Hazmat endorsement, both to be obtained within specified deadlines. • Lift up to 75 lb and meet physical demands of the role. • Hold a valid driver’s license; obtain a Class C CDL with Hazmat endorsement within 180 days. • Acquire Class A Water certification (subclasses 1, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12) within 48 months. • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent; technical training in mechanical/instrumentation preferred. • Demonstrate ability to read technical drawings, perform calculations, and prepare technical reports. • Be computer‑literate with spreadsheet and database skills. • Comply with federal drug/alcohol testing, medical certification, and DOT physical qualifications.

The rate of pay is $31.99 per hour, with an initial $3.00 reduction for employees hired after May 24 2013, followed by a $1.00 hourly increase each year until the full wage rate is reached. The position is subject to Federal Highway Administration regulations, including random drug and alcohol testing, bi‑annual medical certification, and compliance with DOT physical qualifications.
