About the Role

The Sorter is responsible for safely and efficiently processing incoming recyclable materials so that the outbound commodities meet the quality standards required by brokers or mills. This role involves handling a variety of recoverable items such as aluminum, plastic, glass, and paper, ensuring they are sorted and prepared for resale. • Sort and segregate recoverable materials (e.g., aluminum, plastic, glass, paper) from incoming waste. • Deposit sorted materials safely and efficiently into the appropriate chute. • Assist fellow sorters with heavy or bulky items as needed. • Follow all safety policies, including stopping the conveyor belt in emergencies. • Inspect incoming loads for unacceptable waste and remove prohibited items. • Communicate with equipment operators about special or hazardous loads. • Utilize health care and dependent care spending accounts. • Participate in the Employee and Family Assistance Program (EAP).
