About the Role
The Engineer will review municipal zoning and land‑development ordinances, conduct site investigations, and develop concept drawings aligned with client objectives. Key duties include designing stormwater management and conveyance systems using Civil 3D and hydrology software, performing pipe sizing calculations, and applying the Rational Method and Manning’s Equation. Additional responsibilities cover grading design, utility system layout, erosion and sediment control, construction cost estimating, and leading or supporting other engineers. • Review zoning, land‑development ordinances, and agency regulations to define site constraints. • Conduct site investigations, utility research, and due‑diligence visits. • Prepare concept plans and coordinate with AutoCAD draftsmen. • Design stormwater management and conveyance systems using Civil 3D and hydrology tools. • Perform pipe sizing, runoff coefficient calculations, and apply Rational Method and Manning’s Equation. • Develop grading designs ensuring value engineering and safe slope criteria. • Layout subdivision and site plans, including utility system design and conflict resolution. • Design soil erosion and sediment control measures, including BMPs and stability calculations. • Estimate construction costs for bonding and client documentation. • Lead and mentor junior engineers or work independently on projects.

The role involves using engineering skills to perform grading and drainage designs for development projects, working in AutoCAD alongside staff engineers to meet budgets, deadlines, and agency regulations. Joining the Civil/Site team offers exposure to diverse projects such as warehousing complexes, sporting arenas, residential developments, and mixed‑use downtown projects, accelerating career growth. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with 4–7+ years of residential or commercial land‑development experience. Preferred credentials include EIT or PE, and strong knowledge of local land‑use regulations. Required skills are proficiency in stormwater, hydraulics, grading, Civil 3D, and excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. • 4–7+ years of civil land‑development experience (residential/commercial). • EIT or PE certification preferred. • Knowledge of local municipal, county, and state land‑use, planning, and zoning regulations. • Proficiency in stormwater, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, grading, and Civil 3D. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a self‑starter.
