About the Role
As a Design Manager at Gensler, you will oversee all project phases, ensuring client satisfaction, quality control, and financial performance while acting as the primary liaison between the team and the client. You will lead client engagements by implementing projects, growing business for base building and interiors, and preparing proposals and contracts. Leadership responsibilities include communicating objectives, fostering a positive team environment, and maintaining effective written and verbal communication. Project duties cover scheduling, budgeting, staffing, and coordination with sub‑contractors, vendors, and contractors, alongside monitoring profitability, billing, and expense management. Collaboration extends across Design Managers, Finance, HR, and Office Directors to uphold professional conduct, strengthen the firm’s external image through industry organizations, and integrate best‑practice strategies, sustainability commitments, and global relationship building. • Implement and lead client projects, expanding base building and interior design business. • Prepare proposals, negotiate contracts, and secure fees. • Communicate project objectives, scope, and schedule to clients and teams. • Foster a collaborative, positive team environment with open‑door communication. • Manage schedules, budgets, staffing, and coordination with subcontractors and vendors. • Monitor financial performance, including billing, collections, and expense approvals. • Partner with Design Managers, Finance, HR, and Office Directors to uphold professional standards. • Represent Gensler in industry organizations (AIA, RDI, NCIDQ) and enhance firm reputation. • Drive sustainability integration, set project ESG targets, and support team learning. • Utilize additional tools such as Navisworks, Dynamo, Insight, and visualization software (Enscape, Vray).

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field, with at least 10 years of project‑management experience and 15 years total in architecture or design. A professional license is preferred, and expertise in sustainable design, LEED/WELL/Fitwel, and net‑zero projects is required, demonstrated by portfolio work. Technical qualifications include familiarity with the BIM lifecycle, management of BIM teams, and proficiency in Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, and related collaboration tools such as BIM 360. Basic knowledge of real‑time rendering, information‑management platforms, and programming languages (C#, Python) is desirable. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field with 10+ years of project‑management experience. • Possess sustainable design expertise and portfolio projects with LEED, WELL, Fitwel, or Net‑Zero certification. • Demonstrate BIM lifecycle knowledge and lead BIM teams using Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, and BIM 360.
