About the Role
• Select pipe or material size according to specifications. • Plan layouts, assembly, and welding using geometry and metal properties. • Operate Gas‑Metal Arc, Flux‑Cored, Gas‑Tungsten, Submerged, or Shielded Metal Arc processes. • Layout, position, and align components in various body positions. • Connect welding unit cables to set amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse per procedure. • Install appropriate electrode or consumable wire in holder or gun. • Start power supply to generate welding current. • Strike arc to melt and deposit metal, joining workpiece edges. • Manually guide electrode/gun along weld line, controlling arc length, speed, and bead depth. • Apply filler rod, clean/degrease joints, repair cracks, remove excess weld, preheat workpieces, and cut metal as required. • Inspect welds for bead size and compliance with specifications. • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, and equipment. • Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing workpieces during installation. • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of welding tools and equipment. • Assist other mechanics when needed. • Use respiratory protection as required. • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.

What You Bring
Local chemical production facility is hiring a full‑time Journeyman Combo Welder. The role requires certification on multiple welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW) and the ability to read blueprints and metallurgy to fabricate and assemble structural components such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, buildings, and pipe. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license, pass a background check and a weld test, and be able to work the schedule of 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday‑Thursday with occasional overtime. The position offers a pay rate of $33.04 per hour. The job calls for a high school diploma or equivalent combined with relevant experience. Employees are expected to follow precise standards, use basic mathematics, plan work, select tools, and visualize three‑dimensional drawings while working under direct supervision. Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting and carrying up to 35 lb, and frequent actions such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching and handling. Safety equipment such as respiratory protection is required. • Bolt, clamp, and weld piping, plate, pipe, tube, and structural shapes in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions; tack weld as needed. • Pass employer performance and weld tests; perform only certified procedures.
