About the Role
The Mechanical Engineer II – Product Development role is located in Pune and is responsible for designing and developing industrial refrigeration products for Johnson Controls. This position sits within the product development team and supports the company’s broader building‑technology portfolio. In this role you will design refrigeration components that balance performance, reliability, and cost‑effectiveness while collaborating with manufacturing, quality, procurement, and marketing teams to ensure feasibility and alignment with business goals. You will also create and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including CAD models, drawings, and bills of materials, and take part in design reviews, DFMEA, and validation testing. You will translate customer specifications into 3D models and technical drawings, produce PV and heat‑exchange documentation, and deliver manufacturing and fabrication packages that comply with local and international codes such as China GB, ASME, and API. Project schedules, product cost, and warranty expenses will be closely monitored to achieve on‑time delivery, and you will work closely with electrical, instrument, and pressure‑vessel engineers to ensure accurate order fulfillment. • Design industrial refrigeration products emphasizing performance, reliability, and cost‑efficiency. • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, procurement, and marketing teams to ensure product feasibility. • Develop and maintain CAD models, drawings, and bills of materials for all designs. • Lead design reviews, conduct DFMEA, and perform validation testing. • Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and codes such as GB, ASME, and API. • Produce 3D models and detailed documentation to meet customer specifications and project schedules. • Track product cost, warranty expenses, and drive on‑time project delivery. • Utilize AutoCAD, Inventor/PRO‑E and apply engineering theory to solve design challenges. • Apply DFMEA, DVP&R, and product validation processes throughout development. • Communicate technical information effectively in English to internal and external stakeholders.

What You Bring
A bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering and 4–7 years of relevant experience are required. Candidates should have solid knowledge of refrigeration equipment design, be proficient with AutoCAD and Inventor/PRO‑E, and possess experience in DFMEA, DVP&R, and product validation processes. Strong written and verbal English skills are essential, with preferred experience in natural refrigerants, lean product development, agile methodologies, and global team collaboration.
