About the Role
This position reports to the Gas Operations Manager and is responsible for the operation and maintenance of landfill gas collection and control systems (GCCS). The GCCS includes extraction wells, piping, and gas conveyance equipment such as fans or blowers, and the collected gas is combusted in a flare to meet State and Federal environmental regulations. The role involves operating and maintaining the GCCS in a timely, cost‑effective manner to ensure regulatory compliance and optimize performance. Responsibilities include calibrating electronic data collection devices, managing wellfield and environmental monitoring data, implementing preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting liquid management pumps and wellfield valves. The technician must also use PVC or HDPE piping for repairs and complete the WM Landfill Gas Technician I Training. • Operate and maintain GCCS to ensure compliance and performance • Calibrate and manage electronic data collection devices for LFG optimization • Collect and enter data from wellfield extraction and environmental monitoring • Implement GCCS preventative maintenance plan • Troubleshoot and maintain liquid management system pumps • Adjust wellfield valves and vacuums and interpret related data • Repair and maintain PVC/HDPE piping systems • Develop understanding of environmental regulations governing GCCS

What You Bring
Required qualifications are a valid, unrestricted driver’s license. Preferred qualifications include experience in environmental fieldwork or related hands‑on trades, knowledge of gas collection systems, pumps, blowers or flare systems, and technical or trade‑school training in environmental science, mechanical systems, or instrumentation. Additional assets are experience with PVC/HDPE piping, data logging, mechanical troubleshooting, basic computer data entry, and the ability to work independently in the field. The job requires physical work both inside the gas plant and outdoors in inclement weather, heat, and humidity. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities. • Complete WM Landfill Gas Technician I Training • Valid unrestricted driver’s license • Experience in environmental fieldwork, construction, electrical, mechanical or similar hands‑on work • Knowledge of gas collection systems, pumps, blowers, or flare systems • Technical or trade‑school training in environmental science, mechanical systems, instrumentation, or related field • Experience with PVC/HDPE piping components • Experience using data logging systems • Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting pumps, motors, and pneumatic equipment • Basic computer data entry and interpretation skills • Ability to work independently in field environments with minimal supervision
