About the Role
• Select pipe type, size, and related materials per specifications. • Operate various welding processes (GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SAW, SMAW) as required. • Lay out, position, align, and fit components in multiple body positions. • Bolt, clamp and weld metal components of piping systems, plates, tubes, and structural shapes, including tack welding. • Set welding parameters (amperage, voltage, slope, pulse) and prepare electrodes or filler wire. • Initiate arc, guide electrode/gun, and control weld bead depth, speed, and fusion quality. • Apply filler rod manually when needed. • Clean or degrease weld joints and work area using brushes, grinders or chemical baths. • Repair cracked parts, fill holes, and remove excess or defective weld material, slag and spatter. • Inspect welds for bead size and specification compliance. • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, and equipment; assist in lifting and positioning work pieces. • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment; assist other mechanics. • Use respiratory protection as required and pass employer performance and certification tests. • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules; perform other duties as assigned. • Make decisions based on measurable criteria. • Apply basic mathematics to solve problems. • Plan work and select proper tools. • Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings. • Compare and detect differences in size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects.

What You Bring
Long Term Maintenance • No Per Diem. Must pass pre‑employment background and physical. Work hours are Monday‑Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The role involves certifying on multi‑process tubes and being proficient in SMAW, GTAW and GMAW welding processes. The technician will lay out, align and weld fabricated, cast and forged components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, buildings and pipe, following blueprints and metallurgy specifications. The position requires the ability to work within precise limits of accuracy, make decisions based on measurable criteria, apply basic mathematics, plan work, visualize objects in three dimensions, and compare size, shape and form of lines and figures. Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, lifting and carrying up to 35 lb, as well as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching and handling tools. • Plan layouts, assembly, and welding using knowledge of geometry and metal properties. • Preheat work pieces with torch or furnace and cut metal plates or structural shapes.
