About the Role
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with load‑lift attachments and transport waste or recyclable containers to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities once they reach legal load capacity. Commercial drivers pick up containers that may weigh over 1,000 lb and must perform skilled backing maneuvers in high‑traffic, congested environments. Residential drivers collect household waste and recycle material, while roll‑off drivers load and move large open‑top or compactor containers, often navigating tight overhead spaces. • Operate vehicles following WM Safety, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and complete DVIR documentation. • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, accidents, property damage, and service interruptions to the Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Attend required training, briefings, and meetings; collaborate with Operations Manager to improve route efficiency. • Communicate customer requests and ensure receptacles are emptied, leaving sites clean and debris‑free. • Follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day paperwork, and assist other drivers as needed.
