About the Role
In addition to active lifeguarding, the Head Lifeguard supervises daily guard operations, facilitates chair rotations, ensures cleanliness and organization of aquatic areas, and assists the Director of Outdoor Pursuits with member needs and operational challenges. • Supervise lifeguard staff, manage chair/zone rotations, and enforce professionalism and safety rules. • Train, coach, and maintain readiness of the lifeguard team; lead regular training sessions. • Monitor pool and lake activity, identify hazards, and respond quickly to emergencies. • Oversee risk management, cleanliness, and organization of aquatic areas, including equipment setup and towel stations. • Collaborate with the Outdoor Pursuits Manager to address member concerns and operational challenges. • Provide first aid, participate in drills, and report safety or maintenance issues to the Director.

Discovery Land Company is seeking a Head Lifeguard for its Outdoor Pursuits Department. The seasonal position runs from May 18 to September 28, 2026 and requires a current lifeguard certification. The Head Lifeguard leads a team, enforces safety standards, and maintains a high level of professionalism on deck. • Require 2+ years aquatic experience; prior supervisory experience preferred; current lifeguard, CPR/AED/First Aid certifications required. • Maintain professional demeanor, strong communication, safety‑first mindset, and ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays. • Physical ability to stand/walk for long periods, lift up to 50 lb, and work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
