About the Role

The Senior Civil Construction Inspector will oversee civil infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, water and wastewater facilities, pump stations, and pipelines. The role includes conducting and documenting construction observations, mentoring junior staff, collaborating with project managers, interpreting drawings and specifications, and serving as the senior inspector when needed. • Conduct and document observations of construction progress for civil infrastructure projects. • Mentor junior field staff and provide supervision as needed. • Collaborate with field representatives and Project Managers. • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications; identify discrepancies. • Serve as the senior inspector on projects when required.

What You Bring

Preferred qualifications include a technical school or associate degree, strong roadway or bridge experience, 7‑10 years of civil construction inspection, relevant industry certifications, and the ability to read construction schedules. Required qualifications are a high school diploma (or equivalent experience), at least five years of inspection experience, proficiency with MS Office, strong written communication, the ability to work independently and in teams, and a commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned culture. Candidates with eight years of relevant experience may substitute for the diploma. HDR’s Drug and Alcohol Policy reinforces employee safety and client requirements, prohibiting substance use on HDR or client premises and may require a drug screen before and after hire, in line with applicable laws. • Technical school or associate degree. • Roadway or bridge experience strongly preferred. • 7‑10 years of civil construction inspection experience. • Relevant industry certifications. • Ability to interpret construction schedules. • High school diploma or equivalent (or 8 years relevant experience). • Minimum of 5 years inspection experience. • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). • Strong written communication skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
