About the Role

The Hazardous Materials & Occupational Hygiene Technician role supports clients across the Greater Toronto Area, Ottawa and Southwestern Ontario, helping them manage hazardous materials, protect worker health and create safer buildings. You will join a collaborative team of occupational hygienists, EHS compliance professionals, environmental assessors and hazardous‑materials managers. The position operates in a flexible hybrid model and requires travel to a variety of project sites throughout Ontario. You will report to project managers and engage directly with clients on‑site. Key responsibilities include conducting field assessments and monitoring programs to ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, construction and environmental regulations. You will perform building surveys for asbestos, lead and mould, collect samples safely, and oversee remediation projects through contractor monitoring and air sampling. The role also involves occupational exposure assessments for chemical, biological and physical hazards, as well as indoor‑air and drinking‑water investigations. Analyzing airborne fibre samples, interpreting results and preparing clear technical reports are essential tasks. Building strong relationships with colleagues and clients while promoting a health‑and‑safety culture is expected.

What You Bring

• Completed college diploma or university degree in occupational hygiene, environmental science, engineering or related field. • Consulting experience or equivalent knowledge in occupational hygiene, environmental science or construction. • Strong understanding of Ontario occupational health, safety, construction and environmental legislation. • Experience with hazardous materials surveys, asbestos monitoring, mould or lead assessments, and preferably airborne fibre analysis. • Proficient in Microsoft Excel for managing sampling data. • Ability to use hand tools, ladders and lift sample containers up to 50 lb. • Self‑motivated, organized and capable of independent field work while collaborating in multidisciplinary teams. • Willingness to travel frequently across the GTA and Ontario, with personal vehicle, clean Driver’s Abstract and eligibility for Federal Reliability/Secret clearance.
