About the Role
Key duties include reviewing construction drawings and specifications, supervising contractor work through site inspections, performing material sampling, and generating clear documentation and progress reports. The position also involves mentoring junior field staff and ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards. Ethical decision‑making and adherence to WSP’s Code of Conduct are expected throughout. • Examine and interpret construction plans, specifications, schedules, and other project documentation. • Monitor contractor progress and conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with specifications, regulations, and health, safety, and environmental requirements. • Perform material sampling and review testing reports to identify potential risks. • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior field staff during monitoring and oversight activities. • Generate accurate documentation and periodic progress reports using electronic systems and field notebooks. • Uphold ethical decision‑making and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.

The company is an equal‑opportunity employer and requires all candidates to be authorized to work in the United States. • Required: High School Diploma and 9+ years demolition oversight experience with regulated materials such as asbestos, PCBs, or universal waste. • Ability to read and interpret technical plans, permits, test data, schedules, and budgets. • Familiarity with environmental and construction laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record‑keeping requirements. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences. • Proficient self‑leadership with attention to detail, multitasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment. • Physical ability to squat, bend, lift, climb and navigate challenging terrain as required by the job. • Willingness to travel for extended periods depending on project needs. • Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline; Michigan Asbestos Building Inspector licensure or ability to obtain it; active involvement in professional organizations; extensive abatement and demolition oversight experience.
