Job Highlights
About the Role
In this role you will support the Nucor Building Group's sales and profit goals by delivering safe and efficient designs for low‑rise structures such as airplane hangars, churches, gyms, retail centers, and industrial facilities. You will use custom and industry software to address both standard and unique framing conditions, create economical solutions within product and manufacturing limits, and actively manage projects through clear communication with customers and internal teams. • Design structural steel, wall and roof panels, secondary members, and stability bracing for metal buildings. • Provide safe, efficient designs for hangars, churches, gyms, retail centers, and industrial facilities. • Apply custom and industry software to standard and non‑standard framing conditions. • Develop creative, cost‑effective solutions using NBG products and manufacturing limitations. • Communicate actively with customers and internal teams to manage projects. • Suggest improvements and verify calculations for design software; assist in new tool development. • Perform quote engineering, including preliminary framing design and scope clarification. • Represent NBG as an engineering resource in project meetings, presenting design results and value‑engineering ideas. • Uphold NBG safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science in Civil or Architectural Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program, have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, and be authorized to work in the United States. Preferred qualifications include a focus on structural engineering, basic knowledge of building construction, familiarity with current codes, and experience with pre‑engineered metal building systems. • Hold a BS in Civil or Architectural Engineering (ABET accredited) and have passed the FE exam. • Possess basic knowledge of building construction, codes, and pre‑engineered metal building systems.
