About the Role

The Senior Chief Engineer oversees the efficient, safe and responsible operation of all building systems and equipment and leads the engineering team for a large mixed‑use project in McLean, VA that includes retail and public venues. This on‑site, salaried role requires presence during a typical 7 am‑4 pm schedule with flexibility, and may involve evenings or weekends for site and team management. The position includes a target bonus and flexible time‑off policy subject to manager approval. You will manage a team of eighteen (19) engineers across three shifts, supervise multiple construction projects, and handle maintenance, budgeting and client communications. • Lead and manage engineering team(s) through other senior engineers • Manage a team of eighteen (19) engineers spanning three shifts per day, seven days per week • Manage multiple major construction projects • Oversee the maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems • Supervise and manage engineers and maintenance staff including hiring, training, coaching and personal development • Create and routinely update a documented plan that includes preventive, predictive and reactive maintenance procedures • Participate regularly in client-facing and property team communications • Lead, create and manage engineering budget and participate in overall operating budget process • Assist in the development of a capital improvement plan • Select, schedule, supervise and direct contractors; monitor and document performance • Lead and organize ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs and procedures

What You Bring

• Respond effectively to emergencies and service calls • 7-10 years of related experience, especially as a Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer or similar • People management experience (leading a team) • Trade school education, union training, military service or college is desirable • Universal CFC EPA certification • DC 3rd Class Engineering License • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams) • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs • Comfort using ladders up to 30 feet tall • Ability to frequently climb, bend, kneeling, lift and/or drive • Strong customer service and communication skills
