About the Role
The position requires overseeing design engineering initiatives from conception through completion while ensuring schedules and budgets are maintained. Financial performance is tracked through projections and regular reporting on cost, schedule, and issue resolution. The manager will also coordinate subcontracts, suppliers, and serve as the primary liaison for clients and on‑site representatives to foster positive relationships and future opportunities. • Prepare proposals, assist in pursuit presentations, and negotiate contracts. • Manage design engineering projects from concept to completion. • Maintain project schedule and budget through the design phase. • Develop and monitor financial projections and allocate estimates in the financial system. • Report on progress, cost, schedule metrics, and flag issues requiring support. • Manage subcontracts and suppliers, overseeing budget and selections. • Serve as primary point of contact for clients and on‑site representatives to build relationships and future opportunities.

What You Bring

The first assignment will be in Cheyenne, WY with the option to return to Denver or continue traveling. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or construction‑related field or possess equivalent experience, and bring at least seven years of construction management experience on large projects. Required attributes include detail orientation, a basic grasp of construction law and business practices, intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office and project tools, a professional attitude, strong customer service skills, the ability to interpret company policies, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to travel. • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management or equivalent experience. • Minimum seven years of construction management experience on large projects. • Detail‑oriented with ability to organize multiple tasks. • Basic understanding of construction law and business practices. • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office and project/web applications. • Strong professional attitude, customer service skills, and ability to interpret company policies. • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.

Compensation ranges from $132,100 to $198,200, with higher rates for certain locations, and includes eligibility for Mortenson’s incentive plan and visa sponsorship.
