About the Role
You will lead environmental teams across multiple sectors, delivering services such as planning applications, Environmental Assessments (EA/EIA), route optioneering, site selection, stakeholder engagement and support for DCO examinations and planning inquiries. The role combines project management, financial oversight and client relationship building to ensure successful project delivery. Key responsibilities include managing bids, overseeing project teams, driving business development, and supporting innovative techniques like Digital EIA. You will mentor junior colleagues, promote sustainable design, and uphold health and safety standards while contributing to WSP’s broader business strategy. • Lead and manage environmental aspects of energy T&D, hydrogen and CCUS projects. • Deliver planning applications, EA/EIA, route optioneering, site selection, stakeholder engagement, and DCO examination support. • Oversee project delivery, including bidding, team leadership, financial and commercial performance, and health & safety compliance. • Drive business development by preparing proposals, contributing to strategic bids and securing new work. • Develop innovative practices such as Digital EIA and future‑ready assessment techniques. • Mentor and up‑skill junior staff while promoting an inclusive workplace culture. • Participate in diversity and inclusion initiatives through employee resource groups and a culture of belonging.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate holds an environmental degree, is working towards Chartered Environmental status (or equivalent), and has extensive EIA experience within multidisciplinary teams. Strong knowledge of environmental and planning legislation, excellent communication skills and a background in large‑scale infrastructure projects are essential. • Hold a relevant environmental degree and be working towards Chartered Environmental status (IEMA) or equivalent. • Demonstrate extensive EIA experience, strong knowledge of environmental and planning legislation, and excellent communication skills. • Experience delivering large‑scale infrastructure projects (e.g., rail, highways, energy).
